400 PSI Horizontal Separator Delivered for Ecuador Oil & Gas Project
HC Petroleum has completed the fabrication of a custom horizontal separator for an oil & gas project in Ecuador.
Designed for a 400 psi design pressure and 200°F design temperature, the vessel has an internal diameter of 60 inches and an overall shell length of 12 feet. The shell and heads are fabricated from SA-516M Gr.70, with the vessel designed and manufactured in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1 requirements and supplied with an ASME U Stamp.

Equipment at a Glance
Equipment: Horizontal Separator
Size: 60" ID × 12'
Design Pressure: 400 psi
Design Temperature: 200°F
Shell & Head Material: SA-516M Gr.70
Design Code: ASME Section VIII, Division 1
Certification: ASME U Stamp
The vessel was manufactured as a horizontal pressure vessel with a customized nozzle arrangement to meet the project's process and installation requirements.
Multiple process connections and instrument nozzles are incorporated into the vessel, together with lifting lugs and structural supports for handling and installation.
For a vessel with a 60-inch internal diameter, dimensional accuracy and alignment become particularly important during fabrication. Shell forming, head fit-up, nozzle installation and welding were controlled throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that the completed vessel matched the approved design and fabrication requirements.
SA-516M Gr.70 was specified for both the vessel shell and heads. This material is commonly used in pressure vessel fabrication where strength, weldability and suitability for pressure-containing service are required. Material selection for this project was made in accordance with the specified design conditions and applicable code requirements.

Material identification and traceability were maintained throughout fabrication as part of the project's quality control process.
The separator was designed and manufactured in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1, covering the applicable requirements for pressure vessel design, materials, fabrication, examination and testing.
The project also required an ASME U Stamp, and the vessel was manufactured under the applicable ASME quality and certification requirements.
For international oil & gas projects, compliance with the specified design code is an important part of equipment procurement. It ensures that engineering calculations, materials, welding, inspection and testing are controlled according to an established pressure vessel standard rather than being treated as independent fabrication activities.
The completed vessel has a clean, compact configuration with the major process and instrumentation connections arranged around the horizontal shell.
At HC Petroleum's manufacturing facility, the fabrication process includes material preparation, shell and head fabrication, assembly, welding, nozzle installation, dimensional inspection, non-destructive examination and pressure testing as required by the approved project documentation and applicable code.

The finished vessel was prepared for shipment following completion of the required inspection and quality control activities.
HC Petroleum manufactures custom horizontal and vertical separators for oil & gas and process applications, with equipment designed according to individual project requirements.
Depending on the application, our equipment can be engineered for different pressure ratings, vessel dimensions, materials, internal separation components and process configurations.
For projects requiring a 400 psi horizontal separator, ASME pressure vessel, or other customized oil & gas separation equipment, HC Petroleum can work from client specifications, process data or project drawings to develop a suitable equipment solution.
