Heat exchanger is an essential equipment in the production of petrochemical enterprises. In the process of design and usage, both engineers and customers are most concerned about how to improve its heat transfer efficiency. 1.Improving the surface heat transfer coefficient of the plates

Surface heat transfer coefficient is related to the shape and structure of corrugated plate and flow state of the medium. Generally speaking, there are three kinds of plate wave-forms: chevron, flat and spherical. The surface heat transfer coefficient of chevron is relatively high, and it will increase with the increase of medium flow velocity. 

To choose plate with high thermal conductivity: Austenitic stainless steel, titanium alloy, copper alloy, etc. are all available for selection, among which the corrosion resistance of chloride ion of austenitic stainless steel is relatively poor.

To reduce plate thickness: It is related to the pressure-bearing capacity of heat exchanger. Under the condition of meeting the pressure-bearing capacity, the smaller thickness of the plate should be selected as far as possible. 

To prevent plate scaling: Prevent impurities in the water from being adsorbed on the plate. If there are viscous impurities in the water, filter them out first. 

2.Increasing logarithmic mean temperature difference

Use countercurrent or mixed type to increase the temperature of hot side fluid and correspondingly reduce the temperature of cold side fluid.

3.Locating the inlet and outlet of pipes

The inlet and outlet pipes of fluid should be placed on one side of the fixed end plate of heat exchanger, and the inlet and outlet of the medium should be arranged in accordance with the principle of hot fluid flowing in and out from top to bottom while cold fluid going in and out from bottom to top, so as to improve the heat transfer efficiency of heat exchanger. 

The above are the basic measures to improve heat transfer efficiency of heat exchanger. For heat exchanger, we should not only improve its heat transfer efficiency, but also pay attention to the selection of both materials and sealing materials. We should not only ensure its operation safety, but also ensure its service life and reduce the operating cost of users.
